On the Mac you have more than 100 instruments with Apples native DLS SoftSynth available.

If your Mac, iPhone or Android device is attached to a MIDI device (e.g. a MIDI keyboard) you additionally have access to all instruments on your external device. This provides you a wide range of instruments to choose from.

Keyboard & Fretboard

Better Ears comes with a virtual keyboard and virtual guitar fretboard. You can key notes on either. So piano and guitar players feel like at home. In training mode all answers are displayd right on the keyboard / fretboard view to you.

Unlimited custom levels

You can can create an unlimited amount of levels, letting you train to your own specific needs. Put yourself in "Ear Training Camp" to learn church modes, or concentrate on those two pesky intervals that constantly cause you problems.

To make it easier to start, Better Ears includes four presets, each with a different level of difficulty.

MIDI Support

Better Ears supports routing sound through an external MIDI device, allowing you to use your existing MIDI master keyboard or sound module. You can even control Better Ears using a connected keyboard.

Microphone support*

The integrated pitch detection through the microphone allows you to answer the questions with your voice or a real instrument (e.g. piano or guitar). Simply play the individual tones on your instrument or sing them when the microphone button lights red.
