Better Ears has a built-in editor for creating your own chords, scales and chord progressions.

For every exercise Better Ears knows all your current stats, including how often you have answered each question correctly or incorrectly. This makes it easy to recognize which exercises are the most difficult for you. The statistic also allows you to notice the progress you are making in ear training. When using the Better Ears sync mode you can see statistics of all your devices at a glance.


Wikipedia integration
Better Ears shows the relevant Wikipedia article for the current exercise. If a relevant article is not available online, another topically-appropriate article will be shown instead. This way you can get deeper knowledge about Intervals, Scales, Chords, Chord Progression, Pitch, Tempi, and Key Signatures.

Choose your training sound
Choose your training sound from six different instruments. Better Ears comes with Acoustic Grand piano, Bright Acoustic Piano, Electric Grand Piano, Drawbar Organ, Nylon Acoustic Guitar and Steel Acoustic Guitar.
On the Mac you have more than 100 instruments with Apples native DLS SoftSynth available.
If your Mac, iPhone or Android device is attached to a MIDI device (e.g. a MIDI keyboard) you additionally have access to all instruments on your external device. This provides you a wide range of instruments to choose from.
Keyboard & Fretboard
Better Ears comes with a virtual keyboard and virtual guitar fretboard. You can key notes on either. So piano and guitar players feel like at home. In training mode all answers are displayd right on the keyboard / fretboard view to you.



Unlimited custom levels
You can can create an unlimited amount of levels, letting you train to your own specific needs. Put yourself in "Ear Training Camp" to learn church modes, or concentrate on those two pesky intervals that constantly cause you problems.
To make it easier to start, Better Ears includes four presets, each with a different level of difficulty.
MIDI Support
Better Ears supports routing sound through an external MIDI device, allowing you to use your existing MIDI master keyboard or sound module. You can even control Better Ears using a connected keyboard.



Microphone support*
The integrated pitch detection through the microphone allows you to answer the questions with your voice or a real instrument (e.g. piano or guitar). Simply play the individual tones on your instrument or sing them when the microphone button lights red.

Sync all of your devices
With Better Ears you can keep your Mac, your iOS devices and your Android devices in sync. You can choose what to sync: Your own levels, your statistics, your settings or all of this. By using our syncing feature you have also access to your global ear training statistics.
